Advocates for Mental Health of Wayne & Holmes Counties is a non-profit corporation that provides a place for people with mental health concerns and psychiatric disorders to help one another along the road to wellbeing and recovery. We do this through self-help, peer support, education and advocacy activities.

Advocates for Mental Health exists to provide information about available mental health services, recovery strategies, suicide prevention, advocacy about government policies and to offer activities that foster mental and physical well-being. We provide a safe atmosphere for support group, educational and fellowship activity meetings.
"We are a collection of individuals – some who have gone through the storms of the soul as well as friends and family who stood by and helped another amid a squall – who recognize our need for and responsibility to each other. You are welcome at Advocates: come join us, both to be helped and to help."
Our Goals:
1. Education for consumers.
- Health & Recovery strategies for success. Taking medicines as prescribed. Compliance with a healthcare-provider designed wellness plan. Regular attendance at self-help and support group meetings.
- Computers for art, communication, and research on the Internet.
- Utilization of local agency speakers on available services.
2. Leadership development for consumers, democracy in action.
3. Advocacy for health system improvement.
4. Self-help and peer-support directed towards recovery.
5. Elimination of the stigma of mental illness.
6. Elimination of the isolation and loneliness associated with mental illness.
7. Suicide prevention.

The Mental Health and Recovery Board oversees and pays for mental health and substance abuse treatment services. Services are provided to local citizens based on need. Help is available for most emotional and addiction problems:
