The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is a patient-directed organization focusing on depression and bipolar disorder. DBSA supports research to promote more timely diagnosis, develop more effective and tolerable treatments and discover a cure. DBSA has a grassroots network of more than 1,000 patient-run support groups across the country.  86 percent of support group members reporting that their group helped with treatment adherence.

DBSA advocates with government agencies regarding mood disorders, holds an annual conference for its constituents, hosts international scientific conferences on related critical issues, publishes in peer-reviewed medical journals and sponsors research on issues of affecting those living with mood disorders and those treating these disorders.
